Dear 2nd, 4th, & 6th grade parent/guardian,
We would like to inform you about a new state law, Utah House Bill 104 (HB0104), which addresses firearm safety instruction in public schools and has taken effect on July 1, 2025. In Alpine School District, this means one lesson will be taught anytime in the 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade years. Lessons are 20-30 minutes. A note was sent home with your student, notifying you in advance and giving you the option to opt your child out of the firearm safety instruction. Alternative educational activities will be provided for those who opt out. Here is a link to a copy of the notice and opt-out option:
